More than One Way to Create One Way Links

When attempting to market through the major search engines, the power and importance of one way links is highly visible. A one-way link is when one site requests alignment with another site and no return link is offered. In many cases, this means your site is seen so much as an authority or powerhouse on the internet that other sites only wish to increase this prominence by linking to your site.

Although this may seem like a good feeling, garnering veritable one way links are not as easy as one thinks. Reciprocal linking is discouraged in the search engines, and your lack of improvements in rankings through reciprocal links will prove this. Therefore, to find someone truly interested in linking with your site, you have to a truly interesting site.

The process begins at the site itself. Loading your site with interesting and informative content is a good start. Base this content around thoroughly researched keywords and see potentially what happens. Also, to retain those previously interested in your site and potentially find more, offer an RSS feed to update your new following on a regular basis. Trust me, word spreads quickly about useful resources on the internet; almost too quickly sometimes.

To find others willing to link to your site, they must find your site, but how? Well, making some effort to market outside of your site is essential. Submitting your website to directories, paid or otherwise, is an easy way garner some attention. The more specifically the directories relate to your field of interest, the better.

The more articles, information, columns, comments, and forum postings you make related to the content of your website will not only increase your knowledge of your topic, but also, allow others to learn what you know. By establishing yourself as a credible source with a niche community related to your website, the links will follow.

Writing articles is a good, albeit sometimes daunting, way to establish credibility and therefore, a reason to have someone request a one-way link. Submit these articles to forums, article directories, offer them on your site, place them on other sites, and above all, make sure your site is linked within the article at strategically place points. When placing links, try to give the reader a reason to click through to your site for additional information, downloads, or exploration.

The more free downloads, free information, and authoritative news your site offers, the more traffic it will bring in ideally. From this, persons will recognize the importance of your site and begin requesting links to establish themselves as well. Search engines place heavy emphasis on incoming one-way links to establish the popularity and relative "strength" of the site. Sites with more one-way links will rank higher than those having few if any at all. In the end, the search engines notice these links and place you at your rightful high-ranking search engine position. After all, the people have spoken, well, through their links at least.
